VIDEO Donald Trump, message of “full support” for Viktor Orban, “a strong leader” of a “great country”: “I hope he wins in a big way”

US President Donald Trump sent a new message of support for the head of government in Budapest on Saturday, ahead of the parliamentary elections to be held in Hungary on April 12.
“He has my full and total support,” Trump said in a video message posted by the Hungarian prime minister's X account, which thanked the US president for his support.
“The prime minister has been a strong leader who has shown the whole world what is possible when you defend your borders, your culture, your heritage, your sovereignty and your values. He is a fantastic guy and it is such an honor to support him. I supported him last time, he won and he has done a fantastic job for his country, especially on the borders,” Trump continued.
“I hope he wins and I hope he wins in style. Despite all the attacks, you have to understand, he continues to win, something we all share, we want to win, but we want to win fairly, fairly, but decisively,” the US leader said.

Reuters reported this week that Viktor Orban and his party, Fidesz, are in most polls behind Peter Magyar, a former government ally who has since become the main opponent, and his party, Tisza.
In February, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio was in Budapest and publicly expressed his support for the current Hungarian prime minister. On Friday, Hungary's foreign minister said that US Vice President JD Vance was also due to visit the country.
The strategy proposed by Russian espionage before the Hungarian elections
In the context of the electoral test that awaits the Hungarian leader, The Washington Post wrote on Saturday that officers of the Russian foreign intelligence service, SVR, proposed a way to “fundamentally change the entire paradigm of the election campaign” in Hungary by “staging an assassination attempt on Viktor Orban”.
The material is based on an SVR report that the American publication claims was obtained and authenticated by a European intelligence service.
In the report consulted by The Post, officers of the Russian spy service also talk about the dissatisfaction that exists among Hungarian citizens with the situation in the country.
“The majority (52.3%) is dissatisfied with the state of affairs in the country,” the Russian officers wrote. “Dissatisfaction prevails not only in cities, but also in rural areas (50.8%), where, traditionally, the position of the ruling Fidesz party is strong,” the SVR report also mentions.
