In Zheleznogorsk, a drunk driver in a BMW rammed a police car (video)

In the Krasnoyarsk Territory, traffic police officers detained a drunk driver in a BMW, who rammed a patrol car while trying to escape.

The attention of the traffic police crew, who was on duty on the streets of Zheleznogorsk, was attracted by a BMW car moving at high speed. The driver of the foreign car ignored the police's request to stop and tried to escape.

“During the pursuit, the offender made dangerous maneuvers, drove into oncoming traffic and created a real threat to the life and health of other road users. External police squads were quickly focused on catching the reckless driver. In an attempt to escape the pursuit, the driver collided with a patrol service vehicle, after which, without stopping, he fled the scene of the traffic accident. There were no injuries in the accident,” the press service said.

Losing control at high speed, the driver slid into a snowdrift, after which he tried to escape into the forest. To stop him, the police decided to use their service weapons. After warning shots were fired into the air, the man stopped.

The offender turned out to be a 24-year-old resident of the Balakhtinsky district. The examination showed that he was drunk – the breathalyzer showed 0.590 mg/l.

“Employees of the State Traffic Inspectorate drew up 10 administrative protocols against the man: for drunk driving, driving into oncoming traffic, running a red light, violating the passage through railway tracks, lack of compulsory motor insurance, failure to comply with the requirement to stop, failure to fulfill duties in an accident, violation of a special regime in a closed city. For disobedience to police officers, a report on an administrative offense was drawn up against the driver under Art. 19.3 Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation. The car was seized and placed in a specialized parking lot,” the press service explained.
