A large pine tree fell on Via dei Fori Imperiali in Rome on Sunday, hitting several passers-by. Following the incident, three people were injured, including a Romanian, according to Corriere.it and Digi24.

The Romanian, a 42-year-old man, suffered a blow to the head and an abdominal wound and was transported to the San Giovanni hospital in the Italian capital. Along with him, a 17-year-old teenage girl and a 34-year-old Bengali citizen were also injured.

The force with which the tree fell threw the Romanian man a few meters away, while the teenage girl remained stuck under the massive branches, writes the Italian press. “A terrible scene,” said witnesses at the scene, who helped emergency teams free the victims from under the branches.

The victim's son provided details from the emergency room of San Giovanni Hospital, where his father remained under observation. “He was thrown a few meters after the tree fell. He is not serious, but he has a wound on his abdomen, probably caused by a sharp branch,” explained the young man.

This is the third such incident in central Rome in recent weeks, prompting a wave of criticism of the city hall over the maintenance of the centuries-old trees. Following the collapse of the 15-meter pine tree, the authorities temporarily closed Via dei Fori Imperiali for technical expertise.
