An absolute first for Ferrari. The Italian manufacturer breaks the mold with its first electric model, Luce

Departing from the classic lines of the brand, the new model marks an unprecedented feature for the Italian manufacturer, being the first Ferrari car in history with 5 seats.
Renowned Italian carmaker Ferrari unveiled its first all-electric model on Monday, marking a high-stakes shift for the luxury sports carmaker, while rivals including Porsche and Lamborghini scaled back their electric vehicle ambitions, citing weak demand.
The four-door Luce, which means “light” in Italian, was developed with the help of former Apple design chief Jony Ive and his creative collective LoveFrom, and is Ferrari's first five-seater.

Ferrari aims to appeal to high-income families by offering them comfortable seats, state-of-the-art technology and a 600 liter boot. Deliveries of the long-awaited Luce, priced at 550,000 euros ($640,000), are due to begin in the fourth quarter of 2026.
“It's the result of five years of work,” CEO Benedetto Vigna told more than 200 journalists in Rome.

The Luce, which amplifies the natural vibrating sounds of the electric powertrain to maintain the visceral charm of a traditional Ferrari, is a bet that a generation steeped in technology and artificial intelligence, and less attached to its characteristic heritage of 12- and 8-cylinder engines, will move on to high-tech luxury electric vehicles.
“It's absolutely amazing”
Ferrari hopes this will also give it the opportunity to penetrate deeper into markets such as China, where electric vehicles are already widespread and large petrol cars are heavily taxed.
“In our customer base there are many … who are still looking for something completely different, to be used at different times in life,” said Enrico Galliera, Ferrari's director of marketing and sales.
“It's absolutely amazing,” Galliera added of the car, which features four electric motors, one per wheel, helping to develop more than 1,000 horsepower, a top speed of more than 310 km/h and increased agility for a car that weighs more than 2.2 tons.
Ferrari has stated that the Luce has a range of over 500 kilometers.
Five Luce models were unveiled at the spectacular launch, painted in colors ranging from Ferrari red to white and light blue, marking a break from the automaker's signature aggressively sporty styling, with a larger body and an expansive, glass-dominated design.
The interior of the Luce respects the traditional luxury of the Ferrari brand, with leather, glass and anodized aluminum surfaces, as well as several physical controls that differ from the all-digital, touchscreen-based approach of Tesla and some Chinese electric vehicle manufacturers.
