A video recording captured the moment when a rear wheel comes off a British Airways Airbus A350-1000 plane shortly after it took off from Las Vegas Loncu airport to London on Monday, reports Sky News.
The BA plane took off from Nevada's Harry Reid International Airport at around 21:10 local time when the incident occurred. The plane continued to fly safely across the Atlantic and landed in London, according to Flightradar24, even 27 minutes earlier than scheduled, notes News.ro.
It is not clear what caused the problem with the wheel.
“Safety and security are at the heart of all our activities and we are supporting the authorities in their investigations,” British Airways said in a statement.
Harry Reid International Airport (LAS) said it was “aware of an incident involving a British Airways aircraft which departed from LAS and continued its flight to London, where it landed safely without further incident”.
The tire was recovered from the airfield and no casualties or damage were reported in the airport area, the spokesman added.
