Ukraine responds to Russia's threats. “Don't succumb to blackmail”

Earlier on Monday, Russia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs warned that the country's armed forces were launching a series of methodical strikes against military and industrial facilities in Kiev and therefore advised foreigners to leave the Ukrainian capital as soon as possible.

According to Kovalenko, Russia, which before Vladimir Putin's visit to China “gave the impression that it was considering a possible end to the war, now shows that it wants to continue it.” “She doesn't need the room,” he added.

The head of the CPD noted that Russia is making threats at a time when it is not ready to ensure the security of its own territory, and even Moscow is becoming a target of Ukrainian attacks.

“Through terror against the civilian population, Putin wants to hide his inability to ensure Russia's security. And he is doing all this instead of ending this war,” Kovalenko wrote in the Telegram messenger.

— We are currently talking to our partners about the fact that there is no need to succumb to this Russian blackmail, said Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha in a conversation with journalists.

Russia threatens to retaliate against the Ukrainian attack

In a statement on Monday, the Russian Foreign Ministry said that the attacks on Kiev would be in retaliation for what it said was a deliberate drone attack by the Ukrainian armed forces on a teaching building and a dormitory in occupied Starobilsk (Ukrainian: Starobilsk) in the Luhansk region on Friday.

Ukraine denied these accusations and explained that the target of the attack was the unit directing drone attacks. According to the Russian authorities, 21 people were killed and 42 were injured in the attack in Starobielsk.

The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that the strikes would be aimed at both decision-making centers and command points. Since these facilities are scattered throughout Kiev, it recommended foreigners, including staff of diplomatic missions and representative offices of international organizations, to leave the city as soon as possible, and residents of the Ukrainian capital not to approach military and administrative infrastructure facilities.

Even before Monday's warning, on the night from Saturday to Sunday, Russian forces carried out intensive attacks on Kiev and the Kiev region. According to Ukrainian authorities, Russia fired 600 drones and 90 missiles, including the Oreshnik hypersonic ballistic missile. At least four people died and about 100 were injured.
