“I want this candidacy, that we have a project, we have a team, a community that was formed around this candidacy. (…) As for my relationship with Nicuşor Dan, it is public, it is clear. We have been working on this Bucharest project for a very long time, together, we have done it from all the positions we have had. At the Ministry of Transport, we introduced that single ticket for surface and subway transport. I have the support of the president concretely and I think he wants that me to be mayor. But it matters more if our campaign will be successful and I will be mayor, because I will hold him to the promise he made”said USR deputy Cătălin Drula, at the Parliament, recalling the statement of the president Nicuşor Dan, in which he said that he can help Bucharest more from the position of president.
He also criticized the way politicians publicly discussed the conditions for organizing the elections for the Capital City Hall.
“That help now comes with a team in which I find myself, in which we make sure that these political blockages, which are not addressed to one mayor or another, are addressed to the citizens of Bucharest, do not happen anymore. This city is suffocating without building the large systems it needs, integrated transport systems, investments in heating pipes, investments in the rehabilitation of large, urban areas, with pedestrianization, with parks, with spaces quality for citizens. As long as there is money at the Capital City Hall just to put a yellow paint on one intersection and make a TikTok with a self-leveling manhole cover, when you need 10,000 self-leveling manhole covers, we steal our hat ourselves.
I sincerely and deeply believe that it is a discussion that harms democracy, this excessive tacticization of the vote, it is spoken in front of the people, let's put a common one, but let's separate, but let's not put the elections on December 7th, but when the citizens of Bucharest are gone, on the 1st. The whole idea that the elections can be arranged behind the scenes is a false one, a harmful one for democracy, this happened last year as well and I am fighting with all my strength to convey to the people the message that actually this race, this campaign must be a fair competition, an honest competition”the USR deputy mentioned.
The coalition established that the elections for the Capital City Hall, along with all other partial elections, will be held on December 7. At the same time, the leaders determined that each party in the governing coalition would go with a separate candidate.
Vehicles for the positions of candidates from the PNL and PSD are the mayor of sector 6 Ciprian Ciucu and Daniel Băluță, the mayor of sector 4.
