A 64-year-old resident of Yeniseisk will be tried on charges of illegal storage and transportation of especially valuable Red Book fish and its caviar, the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Krasnoyarsk Territory reported.

In August 2025, a man driving a Toyota Land Cruiser Prado was stopped by traffic police. In the trunk, police found sacks, bags, boxes and a plastic canister containing more than 200 kg of sturgeon and 182 cans of black caviar.

The Yenisei resident explained that he acquired particularly valuable aquatic and biological resources from an unknown person.

The cargo was seized. A criminal case was opened and investigated against the man on the grounds of a crime under Part 1 of Art. 258.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. The defendant fully admitted his guilt and repented of his actions. The court may punish him compulsory, corrective or forced labor; or imprisonment for a term of up to 4 years with a fine of up to one million rubles.
