Air traffic in Poland is growing faster than in Europe. The ULC results are surprising

According to the Civil Aviation Office (ULC), last year airports in Poland served 66.1 million passengers. This means an increase of 11.7%. compared to 2024 and by 26.6 percent compared to 2023. The office's announcement noted that the results achieved exceeded previous forecasts. “In 2025, the number of passengers reached a level higher than assumed in the optimistic variant of the ULC forecast from 2024. The Polish air transport market is therefore developing at a faster pace than expected two years ago. High increases were also recorded in the number of passenger operations and the amount of air cargo transported. (…) The passenger transport results recorded by Polish airports in 2025 exceeded those achieved by all European airports associated with ACI Europe by 7.3 percentage points,” the CAA indicated.
Great Britain tops the list
The most popular destination for foreign travel in regular traffic remained Great Britain, followed by Italy and Spain. The top five countries did not change their positions compared to the same period last year. The largest volume increases were recorded in traffic to Italy and Spain.
London, Milan and Rome are the most frequently chosen
Among the cities most frequently visited by passengers at Polish airports in scheduled traffic is London, with approximately 1 million 194 thousand passengers. travelers. The next positions were taken by Milan (approx. 456 thousand), Rome (approx. 397 thousand), Oslo (approx. 386 thousand) and Amsterdam (approx. 349 thousand). Further places were taken by Paris, Frankfurt, Copenhagen, Barcelona and Munich.

The Polish market is faster than the European average
The dynamics of international traffic in Poland amounted to 12.4%, which means a result of 6.8 percentage points. better than the average of ports associated with ACI Europe. Longer routes and greater aircraft capacity
The average length of a flight segment increased in 2025 by 41 km compared to the previous year and by 82 km compared to 2023. In regular traffic throughout last year. Polish airports served 55.74 million passengers, which means an increase of 5.7 million people (11.4%) per year and by 10.6 million (23.5%) compared to 2023. In the last three months of the year, this number reached 13.5 million, which is 1.4 million more than in the same period earlier.
In the fourth quarter, 1.6 million people used charter flights – 231.9 thousand more than in the previous quarter. (16.8%) more year on year. Compared to the same period in 2023, the number of charter passengers increased by 557.8 thousand, or 52.7%. Throughout last year 10.4 million people traveled in this segment, which means an increase of 1.2 million (13.1%) compared to the previous year and by 3.3 million (46.4%) compared to 2023.
According to previous data from the office, in the first six months of 2025, Polish airports served 29.7 million travelers, which was an increase of 11.8%. compared to the same period of the previous year.
