In Krasnoyarsk, a court found a former traffic police officer guilty ofaccepting bribes. He was a member ofan organized group that illegally sold license plates with special combinations numbers and letters.

It was established that the five defendants planned to monetize the regular issuance of license plates in 2024. ABOUTone of them was Head of the traffic police Andrey Sirotinin.

“The scheme was based on a clear distribution of roles: some provided access to the necessary license plates, others selected cars and prepared documents, and others looked for clients willing to pay for the symbols. All this was presented as a work process. Internal connections, access to a database, and internal knowledge of how numbers were allocated were used. People were involved in the design, documents were adjusted to the desired combination of characters, and money was taken for each service. Over the course of several months, participants in the scheme received almost a million rubles,” the prosecutor’s office said.

The day before, the court found the head of the operational management and information preparation department of the State Traffic Safety Inspectorate for the region guilty of committing a crime provided for in paragraphs. “a”, “c” part 5 art. 290 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, and sentenced to 4 years in prison in a maximum security colony. In addition, the equivalent of a bribe – 945 thousand rubles – was confiscated into state revenue.
