In Krasnoyarsk, a second-year student at one of the universities contacted the police after she took 4.5 million rubles to scammers in Moscow. This was reported to the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Krasnoyarsk Territory.
According to preliminary data, in February, a girl born in 2005 received a call allegedly from the support service of one of the portals and was informed that her personal account had been hacked. Later, false security officials contacted her. They stated that an unfriendly country was allegedly funding the student on behalf of the student, and her apartment was to be searched. To avoid criminal liability, the girl was offered to become a “freelance employee” and carry out tasks.
On May 12, the Krasnoyarsk woman was told to go to the Sverdlovsk region, pick up the money and take it to Moscow for “declaration to the tax office.” The girl bought a ticket at the expense of scammers, flew to the capital, handed over a bag of cash and returned to Krasnoyarsk. After that, she began to be given new tasks. Then the student realized that she had been deceived and came to the police.
Law enforcement officers established that 4.5 million rubles were given to the student by an 11th grade student from one of the schools in Krasnoyarsk. The schoolgirl also received calls from scammers. They introduced themselves as law enforcement officers and convinced her to show her the apartment via video link, and then hand over money and valuables “for declaration.” As a result, the schoolgirl handed over 4.5 million rubles to the student, and to another courier 5 gold bars with a total weight of 230 grams. Their cost exceeds 2.5 million rubles. The money and bullion belonged to the schoolgirl's father.
A criminal case has been opened regarding fraud. Now the police are clarifying all the circumstances of the incident and are looking for the person to whom the gold bars were handed over.
