Changes in the rules for granting benefits and other forms of support provided by MOPS affect the situation of many people in difficult life situations. In 2026, some criteria for granting benefits have changed – including those that are very little known by Poles.

It cannot be denied that in the context of MOPS, there is an association with benefits for people who are in a difficult financial and life situation. In practice, these institutions have a wider range of support instruments. Importantly, both financial and intangible.

It is worth recalling that the list of benefits that MOPS can grant also includes, among others: social work, credit ticket, health insurance contributions, specialist counseling, and shelter.
Benefits from MOPS in 2026. Less known forms of assistance
An example of lesser-known benefits is a repayable allowance, i.e. cash assistance that MOPS can grant even to people who exceed the income criterion (PLN 1,010 for a single person, PLN 823 for a family).
In special cases, you can receive support provided that all or part of the amount is returned. However, the regulations allow you to waive the refund if it would be too much of a burden.

Another benefit is also support, including: adults leaving social welfare homes or shelters. In 2026, the income criterion is PLN 2,020 for a single person and PLN 1,646 in a family, and the basis for determining the amount of assistance is PLN 2,066.
MOPS is not only a permanent benefit. Poles often do not know these forms of support
MOPS may also provide benefits to cover funeral costs. Although this form of support is not new, from January 1, 2026, you can receive a specific allowance to cover funeral costs if you are not entitled to a funeral allowance or the costs are exceptionally high. This benefit is granted regardless of income, but sometimes it has to be paid back.

Little-known support from MOPS also includes health insurance for 90 days. As explained by Infor.pl, people without insurance can submit an application and be entitled to benefits. There is an income criterion of PLN 1,010 for a single person and PLN 823 in a family. This period may be extended if necessary.
Support is also available in the form of care services for older or disabled people. These include activities such as cleaning, shopping, hygiene care, as well as specialized services provided by people with special professional training. Importantly, the granting of such services does not depend on the income criterion.
