A Petersburger robbed a jewelry store in Achinsk, melted down the gold and sold it (video)

Krasnoyarsk police detained a man in St. Petersburg suspected of robbing an Achinsk jewelry store.

The crime was committed in March of this year. The attacker entered the salon, asked to show the gold chains closer, after which he snatched a palette of products and disappeared. The amount of damage amounted to 1.8 million rubles.

Law enforcement officers identified the person involved – he turned out to be a 33-year-old resident of the northern capital. The Petersburg resident admitted that after the crime he went to Irkutsk, melted gold into bars at a friend’s dacha and sold it on the market for 700 thousand rubles.

Now the police are establishing places of sale of the stolen property. A criminal case is being investigated against the man under Part 3 of Article 161 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation “Robbery committed on an especially large scale”, the sanction of which provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for a term of 6 to 12 years.
