Traian Băsescu has his solution for solving the political crisis: “If it is dead, it must be revived”

Former president Traian Băsescu is of the opinion that the current political crisis is the result of the “wicked organization of the elections”, considering that there were many rounds of elections, and the Romanians did not understand what they were voting for. “There is only one solution: rebuilding the coalition,” Traian Băsescu believes, adding that if the coalition is “dead” it must be revived, News.ro writes.
Former president Traian Băsescu is of the opinion that the current political crisis in Romania is “a crisis of thieves”.
“The origin of the political situation we have is in the theft of the 2024 elections. So then everything was done so that the Romanians did not understand what they were voting for. What is the Romanian to understand when he goes to vote, if he has the mayor, the councilor, the list of MEPs to vote for – what is the common list of PSD, PNL? (…) So, total confusion. The presidential elections are coming. And I am doing the first round of presidential elections, next week I will have legislative elections and I'm coming with the 2nd round of the presidential election. What did the Romanian vote for in these 3 weeks? Then you put the lid on everything and cancel the 1st round of the presidential election,” said Traian Băsescu, on Wednesday evening, at TVR Info.
According to him, “what we have now is the result of the vile organization of the elections”: “They didn't give the Romanians any chance to understand what they are voting for. They went with their idea, they will vote as we fool them through television, through TikTok, through… that's what they wanted to achieve.”
Traian Băsescu is of the opinion that early elections cannot be held and a solution must be found.
“You need a solution. The solution is not… So, they are playing for nothing. There is only one solution: resuming the operation of the coalition”, said Băsescu.
He claims that, if the PSD-PNL-UDMR-minorities coalition is dead, it must be revived.
“Dead, alive, if it's dead, it must be revived. And, of course, it's political pride, but beyond pride and political interests, we have a country that needs to have the documents signed by May 30 for the 8.3 billion endowments on SAFE and another 10 billion by August must be collected from the PNRR. If these people leave a provisional government until then, we have a chance to lose the money”, the former said president.
