The Gopo Awards, the Oscars” of Romanian cinema, at the anniversary edition. In a short time, the main winners

The Gopo Awards Gala, the most important event dedicated to cinema in Romania, reached its 20th edition – an anniversary edition – and takes place on Monday evening at the “IL Caragiale” National Theater in Bucharest. The event brings together important personalities from the world of cinema and honors the exceptional cinematographic achievements of 2025.
The gala started around 8:00 p.m.
More than 900 guests from the Romanian film world are expected to participate in the event during which the performances of local cinematography in the last year will be rewarded.
Actors Anamaria Marinca, Anda Onesa, Marius Bodochi, Mihai Mălaimare, Monica Bîrlădeanu, Gigi Ifrim, Cătălina Mihai or Nicodim Ungureanu, radio presenter Răzvan Exarhu, journalists Paula Herlo and Roxana Voloşeniuc or the director of the French Institute in Romania, Isabelle Pérot, are among those who will go on stage to hand out the edition's prizes.
Among those who have confirmed their presence at the gala are directors Nae Caranfil, Florin Şerban and Tudor Cristian Jurgiu, actors George Ivaşcu, Catrinel Dumitrescu, Toma Cuzin, Magda Catone or Alexandru Ion, film producers Ada Solomon, Adela Vrînceanu Celebidachi, Cristina Dobriţoiu and Iuliana Tarnoveţchi, casting directors Viorica Capdefier and Domnica Cârciumaru or fashion designer Doina Levința.
124 Romanian films – fiction feature films, documentaries and short films – released in 2025 in cinemas, at national and international festivals or on streaming platforms, passed through the filter of two juries, News.ro notes.
More than 800 active professionals from all fields of the domestic film industry were invited to vote for the designation of the winners of the Gopo 2026 trophies. The voting mechanism is provided by the prestigious audit and consulting firm PwC Romania, a partner of the Gopo Awards since 2011.
