In his 7 seasons as a pro, Clarke only played for the Memphis Grizzlies. Canadian Clarke was selected by the Grizzlies as the 21st pick in the 2019 NBA draft. He played just two games in the 2025-26 season after suffering knee and calf injuries.

We are deeply saddened by the tragic loss of Brandon Clarke“, the Grizzlies club said in a statement.

Brandon was an exceptional teammate and an even better person whose impact on the organization and the entire Memphis community will not be forgotten. We send our deepest condolences to the family and loved ones at this difficult time“, the officials added.

According to authorities, the Los Angeles Fire Department responded to a medical emergency shortly after 5:00 p.m. local time on Monday. When paramedics arrived, Clarke was pronounced dead. Drug paraphernalia was found in the apartment and the incident is being investigated as a possible overdose. An autopsy will be performed to determine how Clarke died.
