Donald Trump threatens Europe with tariffs

The meeting will take place in the so-called restricted format, which means that instead of the full delegation, only ambassadors and possibly one advisor will participate, and the deliberations will be held behind closed doors. This format is adopted when politically sensitive or difficult topics are being discussed.

On Saturday, President Trump announced he would impose a 10% tax. tariffs on eight European countries, including Denmark, Norway, Sweden, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Finland and Great Britain, for sending small groups of soldiers to Greenland. They are to take part in the Danish-led Arctic Endurance exercises.

As Trump announced, tariffs are to increase to 25% in June. and remain in force until the US concludes an agreement to purchase the island, which is an autonomous territory of Denmark.
