At Krasnoyarsk Pillars, for the first time in 6 years, the “month of silence” was canceled in favor of other prohibitions

“Krasnoyarsk Pillars” do not plan to completely close to visitors for the traditional “month of silence”, however, the bans will continue to apply. The National Park Directorate told Newslab about this.
As Deputy Director for Territory Protection Ivan Kirillov explained, the “month of silence” is not actually cancelled:
“Restrictions continue to apply in certain areas where this is necessary for the protection of nature, and may remain in place for a long time. At the same time, tourist routes remain accessible for visiting if there are no threats to people and natural complexes.”
The approach to restrictions on visiting Krasnoyarsk Pillars has changed, including due to legislation regulating visits to national parks. Now the territory will be closed if certain factors are present. These include forest fires, difficult weather conditions, hurricane winds, snow, as well as situations that may threaten the safety of tourists.

A separate reason for local closure of routes may be biological factors: for example, the appearance of bears near hiking trails or other situations where the presence of people can be dangerous for both visitors and animals. The administration of the reserve asks you to use only permitted routes and follow messages in communities and on the park website.
Let us remind you that the “month of silence” is a spring period of peace in specially protected natural areas, when access to visitors is limited. This measure is being introduced to prevent forest fires and support the awakening of flora and fauna. For the first time, the “Month of Silence” at Krasnoyarsk Pillars was introduced in 2020, and in the past it was valid from May 12 to 23.
