“Our artillerymen fired a record shot from the Homar-K system today from the Polish coast at a distance of 79 kilometers and 600 meters! This is an extraordinary event for our deterrence system,” wrote the head of the Ministry of Defense on the X platform.

“Polish artillerymen have achieved another milestone. During firing from the Polish coast, a projectile fired from the Homar-K system hit the target at a record distance of 79.6 km,” wrote the General Command of the Polish Armed Forces.

Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz also recalled that on Bornholm, Danish and Polish soldiers have been practicing the defense of this Baltic island since Friday as part of the “Baltic Shield” maneuvers. The Polish General Command of the Armed Forces said that they were exercising, among others: our artillerymen, sailors, pilots, special forces, paratroopers and soldiers of the reconnaissance regiment.

According to the Danish Armed Forces, “the exercises cover a variety of activities on land, at sea and in the air to help deal with physical and hybrid threats.”

“Cooperation between both countries shows the enormous strategic importance of the Baltic Sea area for the security of the region and NATO's eastern flank,” Kosiniak-Kamysz said.

Police on Bornholm appealed to island residents and tourists to “remain calm when they encounter Polish paratroopers or see armored vehicles.” Until May 14, the army will be present in the port of Roenne, the nearby airport and at the Raghammer shooting range. Low flights of military planes and drones should be expected.

The number of soldiers and type of units were not disclosed. According to the Danish command, “Baltic Shield” is a continuation of the larger Swedish exercises “Aurora 26”, consisting in the defense of, among others, Gotland, the second island in the Baltic Sea of ​​strategic importance after Bornholm.
