Candidates for judicial vacancies in the Constitutional Tribunal are being collected until November 5 and 20, reports “Dziennik Gazeta Prawna” in Wednesday's edition. The concept of the Constitutional Tribunal changed in the Coalition on October 15, he adds.

As the chairman of the Polska 2050 club, Paweł Śliz, told the newspaper, the Speaker of the Sejm, Szymon Hołownia, has already sent information to the club chairmen about the deadlines for submitting candidacies for individual positions.

Currently, there are four vacant seats in the Constitutional Tribunal, which should consist of 15 judges. In December, two more positions will become vacant – after Krystyna Pawłowicz and Michał Warciński – and next year there will be two more vacancies.

According to the newspaper's findings, the deadline for submitting candidacies for Pawłowicz's place will be November 5, and for Warciński's place and previously vacant positions – on November 20.

“DGP” draws attention to a change in the ruling camp's strategy regarding the Constitutional Tribunal. Although the original plan of the October 15 Coalition assumed a thorough reform after Rafał Trzaskowi's possible victory in the presidential elections, Karol Nawrocki's triumph thwarted these plans – writes the newspaper. Hence the idea to “heal” the Tribunal by filling vacancies.

“If there are no surprises, a new majority could be formed during this term of the Sejm,” said one KO politician in an interview with “DGP.”

However, this solution is questioned by the opposition. Paweł Jabłoński, a member of the parliamentary justice committee from PiS, said in an interview with “DGP” that it would mean an “unprecedented political problem.” As he emphasized, the creators of the constitution did not foresee a scenario in which the Sejm, by not electing any judges for a long time, leads to the accumulation of vacancies.
