Sorin Grindeanu does not rule out taking over the position of prime minister himself in the next Government, he said on Monday, at the Parliament, after a meeting with the ambassadors of the EU states.
“If there is this proposal, if my colleagues think that I am the most suitable, I will not refuse”, Sorin Grindeanu said on Monday.
On Monday, the PSD leader will have a series of meetings with party representatives and unaffiliated parliamentarians with a view to forming a new parliamentary majority.
At the same time, the PSD president is waiting for the data from the National Institute of Statistics regarding the state of the country's economy in the first three months of the year.
“Romania means more than Ilie Bolojan. Romania means that we can quickly have a Government if everyone sits down at the table. The PSD is willing to do this. In two days we will have the data from the INS, which will show the state of the economy in the first quarter, i.e. until the end of March, which will, in fact, be a mirror of Mr. Bolojan's management”Grindeanu also said.
The leader claims that Romania's economic direction is “wrong and must be changed”.
Grindeanu also said that Bolojan is happy with the idea of remaining prime minister and compares the PNL leader with Călin Georgescu, after a wave of sympathy was triggered on social networks for the prime minister removed by a motion of censure.
“My colleagues from the press will argue with me, but I liken this wave on social media to what happened in 2024, in the presidential elections. Things are almost identical”, Grindeanu concluded.
