Ilie Bolojan, sharp message about the version of a government led by “prime minister” Grindeanu. What will PNL do?

“It is in a logical form the responsibility of the PSD to assume the responsibility of forming a parliamentary majority”, declared the leader of the PNL, Ilie Bolojan, who rejected, however, a possible support of Sorin Grindeanu by the liberals for the position of prime minister.
Asked on Monday evening by Digi24 if he, as a parliamentarian, would vote for the option of Sorin Grindeanu – prime minister, Ilie Bolojan replied: “The National Liberal Party should not vote for such a prime minister”.
Bolojan, the prime minister dismissed last March by PSD-AUR motion of censure, declared that “the name of the future prime minister depends on his ability to form a majority around the new Government that will be formed”, but also “on a political reality”.
“We note that the Social Democratic Party, through the motion it launched, together with those from the AUR proved that they are able to form a parliamentary majority, demolishing the government they were part of – and without putting anything in place,” said the PNL leader.
He explained that PNL, USR and UDMR “have not proven that they can constitute a parliamentary majority in this situation”.
“So it is logically the responsibility of the PSD to take responsibility for forming a parliamentary majority and come up with the solutions to fix things, solutions that they have not presented for 10 months,” added the liberal.
What he passed on to Nicușor Dan
Ilie Bolojan stated that, in last week's dialogue, he presented to the president “the point of view related to the political crisis we have reached due to PSD's irresponsible action”.
“We discussed different possibilities and perspectives to get out of this situation, which brings services (…). He told me certain aspects, but it seems to me common sense that his perspective should be presented to him,” he added.
Consultations at Cotroceni towards the end of this week
President Nicușor Dan, who last week held informal consultations with the leaders of the former coalition, is to convene official consultations with all parliamentary parties towards the end of the week, according to official sources.
These discussions would take place on Thursday or Friday, after the conclusion of the B9 Summit in Bucharest.
“Romania will have a pro-Western government in a reasonable time”, declared Nicușor Dan, on Saturday, in a message sent on the occasion of Europe Day.
The head of state will not summon a candidate for the position of prime minister if he is not sure that he will gather the necessary votes in Parliament, according to HotNews information, even if this would mean extending the discussions and the interim of Ilie Bolojan.
On Nicușor Dan's table are all the scenarios, from the restoration of the former coalition and the variant of a minority government PSD + UDMR + National Minorities, to the scenario of a minority government PNL + USR + UDMR and the hypothesis of a technocrat cabinet. However, for the moment, the option of re-appointing Ilie Bolojan for the position of prime minister is not being analyzed.
Discussion between PSD and UDMR leaders
Sorin Grindeanu and Kelemen Hunor discussed, Monday afternoon, in the office of the social democrat in the Parliament.
Before the meeting, Grindeanu had said that a PSD + UDMR minority government is not an option he wants, but “it seems at this moment that it is a scenario that can be taken into account”.
After the discussion, the UDMR leader stated that “the only option by which something can be done” is the restoration of the former coalition.
The liberal Mircea Abrudean, the president of the Senate, said that the PNL can discuss in the internal forums a possible support of a PSD minority government “if it folds on what the PNL has supported – the continuation of the reforms, the PNRR and everything that we had in the initial government program and which was carried out by Prime Minister Bolojan”.
