Civil drone observed near Henri Coandă airport in Bucharest

A small civilian drone was observed on Friday by the crew of an aircraft near the “Henri Coandă” International Airport on the outskirts, reports News.ro.
The National Airports Company Bucharest said that the presence of the drone was reported about 3.5 kilometers from the airport.
“Today, September 19, 2025, during the approach for landing on the 26L track of Henri Coandă Bucharest International Airport, the crew of an aircraft reported the presence of a small civilian in the visual range, about 3.5km from the airport,” the statement said on Friday.
According to the company, the plane landed safely at 3:45 pm, and the incident was immediately reported to the competent authorities.
“Following the notification received, a joint investigation coordinated by the Romanian Civil Aeronautical Authority, the National Airports Company Bucharest and Romatsa was initiated. The investigations carried out so far led to the identification of the civilian drone involved and the location from which it was operated,” the statement said.
The National Company of Bucharest Airports, which did not provide other details, recalled that the operation of the drones is strictly forbidden in the area and near civil and military airports, and their unauthorized use can seriously endanger the safety of flights and constitute a criminal act.
