A 22-year-old woman from Bucharest was rescued by a security guard from a shopping complex, after allegedly being assaulted by her boyfriend for several hours and held against her will, according to investigators.

The aggressor, a 21-year-old man, was charged by Bucharest prosecutors with attempted murder and illegal deprivation of liberty, after a violent episode in which he allegedly assaulted his concubine, a 22-year-old woman, in his home in District 3.
The case is handled by the Prosecutor's Office attached to the Bucharest Court, and the defendant was detained for 24 hours. The prosecutors notified the court with the proposal of preventive arrest for 30 days.
“In essence, the prosecutors noted the following factual situation: During the day of 25.04.2026, being in his home located in Bucharest, sector 3, the defendant exercised repeated acts of physical violence on his concubine (a 22-year-old woman), hitting her with his fists, legs and a blunt wooden object in vital areas of the body. According to the medical documents, the person the victim suffered traumatic injuries consisting of multiple hard blows, a fracture of the right rib cage, a right pneumothorax and a severe contusion of the right hand, injuries that required surgical intervention. After the assault, the defendant took the injured person's mobile phone and restricted her freedom of movement, preventing her from leaving the house or asking for help, keeping her in this condition until 26.04.2026”it is stated in the Prosecutor's Office's statement.
According to the investigators, the woman would have managed to request help when she went, accompanied by the aggressor, to a commercial complex in Bucharest. There, she alerted a security guard, who notified the police and a medical crew.
During all this time, the victim would have suffered intense pain and difficulty breathing, subsequently requiring medical care and surgery.
The file concerns crimes of domestic violence in the form of attempted murder and unlawful deprivation of liberty. The prosecutors are to establish the preventive measures before the judge of rights and liberties.
The case comes in the context in which the authorities are drawing attention to the phenomenon of domestic violence, given that legislative measures to prevent and combat these facts have recently been tightened.
