Trump says he had 'good talks' with Putin and Zelenskiy: 'The hatred between them is ridiculous'

US President Donald Trump said he has “good talks” with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, as they try to end the war in Ukraine, reports Reuters.
“We're working on the Russia situation, Russia and Ukraine, and hopefully we'll come to an outcome,” Trump said in an interview with Fox News.
Trump declined to say when he last spoke with Vladimir Putin.
“I'm having talks with him and I'm having talks with President Zelenskiy, good talks,” Trump said, without saying when he last spoke with each of the leaders of the warring countries.
“The hatred between President Putin and President Zelensky is ridiculous. It's crazy. And hatred is a bad thing when you're trying to fix something, but it's going to happen,” the White House leader said.
Washington has been pressuring the warring parties for months to reach a peace agreement. However, negotiations have been stalled since February due to the US war with Iran, which has distracted the White House.
On April 21, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky accused President Donald Trump's emissaries Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner of showing disrespect for Ukraine.
“It is disrespectful to travel to Moscow and not come to Kiev,” Zelenskiy said in an interview with a news program on Monday.
He said he understood the difficulties involved in traveling to the war-torn country, but noted that others had also made the trip to Kiev.
Speaking about a possible visit to Kiev, Zelensky said: “We don't need it, they do.” The Ukrainian leader also stressed that the outcome of the talks, rather than where they are held, is what matters to him.
