Authorities in the central eastern Ukrainian city of Dnipro said Saturday evening that Russian troops had shelled it for more than 20 hours, killing eight and wounding nearly 50 residents.

“20 hours… For over 20 terrible hours, the Russians attacked the Dnieper in waves. They killed six people and injured 47,” wrote the head of the military administration of the Dnipropetrovsk region, Oleksandr Hanzha, in the Telegram messenger.
“Within 24 hours, hostile attacks on the Dnieper River killed eight of its inhabitants and injured 49,” he added in another entry.
In the morning, the official reported 18 injured. He wrote then about 10 hours of Russian attacks and the search for people under the rubble of destroyed houses. Before noon, he reported four deaths and 27 injured.
The Dnieper was shelled again on Saturday evening. Hanża reported that 10 people were injured. Other people suffered, including: in shelling of towns in the Nikopol and Synelnikov districts (districts).
The head of the regional administration reported that the Russians used missiles and strike drones to carry out the attacks. “They attacked deliberately. They attacked residential areas,” he said.
“Destroyed houses. Ruined buildings. Burnt cars. People lost their apartments. People lost their loved ones. This is conscious terror. It is a crime against people,” Hanża emphasized.
After the attacks on the Dnieper, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky appealed for the world not to remain silent about what happened there. “It is important that the world does not remain silent about what is happening and that this Russian war in Europe does not stop attracting attention in connection with the war in Iran,” he said.
