Israel on high alert. They do not rule out US intervention in Iran

President Donald Trump has repeatedly threatened intervention in recent days and warned Iranian authorities against using force against protesters. On Saturday, Trump said the United States was “ready to help.”
Why is Israel on high alert?
What threat does President Trump pose to Iran?
What did Netanyahu and Rubio discuss during their conversation?
What tensions exist between Israel and Iran?
Reuters sources did not explain what Israel's state of high alert means in practice. Recall that Israel and Iran fought a 12-day war in June, in which the United States supported Israel in its airstrikes.
In a telephone conversation on Saturday, Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio discussed the possibility of US intervention in Iran, the agency reports. The US representative only confirmed that the conversation took place, but it is not known exactly what its subject was.
Israel has not expressed a desire to intervene in Iran, even though protests are ongoing there. Tensions are high between the two arch-enemies due to Israel's concerns about Iran's nuclear and missile programs, Reuters notes.
