Rosseti Siberia identified an illegal mining farm in the Krasnoyarsk Territory / Incidents of Krasnoyarsk and the Krasnoyarsk Territory / Newslab.Ru

During an unscheduled inspection of the metering devices of an agricultural enterprise in the Achinsk District, specialists from the branch of Rosseti Siberia – Krasnoyarskenergo established the fact of unmetered electricity consumption.

During the inspection, the power engineers discovered at the Ptitsesovkhoz substation (substation 35/10 kV) damaged meter seals and a change in the current pattern, which made it possible to steal electricity. As a result of these violations, the attackers connected cryptocurrency mining equipment to the power supply – 160 system units and peripheral devices.

A calculation by power engineers showed that the volume of unmetered electricity consumption amounted to 3,350 MWh, and the preliminary damage caused to the network organization exceeded 13.6 million rubles.

“Consumption of electricity without an agreement with the electric grid company is an uncontrollable load on the networks, which leads to losses of electricity and reduces the reliability of power supply to consumers. In addition, unauthorized connection is most often carried out with gross violations of safety regulations, which creates a threat to the life and health of people,” said the security group of the Krasnoyarskenergo branch.

On the fact of unmetered electricity consumption in the Achinsk District, the branch of Rosseti Sibir – Krasnoyarskenergo sent a statement to the police. A criminal case of fraud has been opened, the investigation is under the control of the prosecutor's office of the Krasnoyarsk Territory.
