Mix potatoes with cheese – and the tray of deliciousness is ready: you can bite your fingers off

Sometimes you really want to eat something tasty, but you have no desire to stand at the stove for hours. Especially if the person is not a professional chef. For such situations, a dish made from available products is perfect. The recipe was shared on the Zen channel “WELCOME TO THE TABLE!” (12+).

What you will need

  • Boiled potatoes – 400 g
  • Corn starch – 90 g
  • Hard cheese – 90 g
  • Salt – as much as you like

This set of products will make approximately 16 regular size sticks. This is enough for a company of 3-4 people.

How to cook

First, peeled potatoes are boiled and mashed without any additives. Grate the cheese on a fine grater. Cheese and starch are added to the warm potato mixture. Mix everything with a spatula, and then with your hands – you should get a mass similar to plastic dough.

The layer is rolled out through cling film to a thickness of 1 cm. Then equal strips are cut with a sharp knife. If the knife gets sticky, you can wet it with water.

The sticks are fried in a large amount of heated oil until golden brown on all sides. This usually takes 3-4 minutes.

What those who have already prepared say

“I made this for dinner with the kids. It was very simple and quick, even a teenager could do it. It turned out crispy, filling and tasty. This will be our signature recipe for guests”;

“A great thing to go with beer or just as a snack. I made it without starch and replaced it with flour, which is also fine. But according to the recipe with starch it turns out more tender. Thanks for the idea”;

“The taste is fine, but there was more fuss than I expected. The dough stuck to my hands, the sticks fell apart when frying. Next time I’d rather just make cheesecakes, to be honest.”
