Specialists from Krasnoyarsk Rospotrebnadzor spoke about safety rules when choosing and purchasing sushi and rolls. It is noted that stale and low-quality products can be recognized by a number of signs related to appearance, smell, texture of ingredients, storage conditions and other factors.
Here are the main indicators that should alert you:
- the rice is overdried or, conversely, stuck together in a lump;
- there are spots or an unnatural shine on the fish, a sharp or sour smell emanates from it;
- the avocado has become watery or split;
- the packaging is damaged or leaking, there is no marking on it with information about the date and time of manufacture.
“A high-quality product looks appetizing, has a neutral marine aroma and the natural color of the ingredients. If you have the slightest doubt, it is better to refrain from consuming it, since stale and low-quality sushi and rolls can cause food poisoning and helminthiases. And remember that prepared meals should be stored in the refrigerator for no more than a day,” Rospotrebnadzor said.
They also reminded about the benefits of rolls and sushi – they are rich in microelements (iodine, phosphorus, potassium, magnesium, calcium) and vitamins (A, B, C and K).
