DNA and masked prosecutors descended on Sălaj County Council and the home of the CJ president, Dinu Iancu Sălăjanu, on Wednesday, writes the local Sălajul liber publication.

According to the cited source, DNA prosecutors checked the offices of the Sălaj County Council and the home of Sălăjanu, who is also the leader of PNL Sălaj, for more than eight hours.

  • Aged 56, Dinu Iancu Sălăjanu became famous as a popular music artist and joined the PNL in 2020, when he was elected president of the Sălaj County Council for the first time, a mandate he regained last year.

According to the DNA, the prosecutors are “conducting investigations in three criminal cases concerning suspicions regarding the commission, in the period 2022 – present, of corruption and similar crimes, namely money laundering, in the context of the procurement of public utility works at the level of the Bistrita-Năsăud and Sălaj County Councils. During April 22, 2026, based on the warrants issued by the court competent, house searches are carried out in 69 locations located in the counties of Bistrița-Năsăud, Cluj, Sălaj, Iaşi and the municipality of Bucharest, targeting the headquarters of two public institutions, respectively the residences of some individuals and the offices/workpoints of some economic operators. Also, in the execution of a European investigation order, home search activities are also carried out on the territory of the French state”.

The Sălaju liber publication writes that Dinu Iancu-Sălăjanu was at home on Wednesday, where the investigators stayed for more than 5 hours, in order to arrive at the headquarters of the Sălaj County Council at around 4:30 p.m. accompanied by prosecutors and a car from the Gendarmerie. His office was sealed.

In the same case, the DNA prosecutors descended on Wednesday morning at the residence of the president of the Bistrita-Năsăud County Council, Radu Moldovan, and at the institution's headquarters, in a large-scale case concerning “crimes of corruption and money laundering”, according to a press release from the institution and the local press. Later, Moldovan resigned from the head of PSD Bistrița.
