“Your head hurts”: Kelemen Hunor says that the situation from a central institution “cannot be explained rationally”

The president of the UDMR, Kelemen Hunor, said on Tuesday evening that he trusted Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan and supports him in the reform measures he is preparing, adding that he started with the central, local administration and then with the fiscal measures.

From his point of view, the measures taken by the Government should have started with those in the administration, given that there are “oversized” ministries, and in some central agencies, such as consumer protection, there are many employees.

“I would have started with the central, local administration, then the fiscal measures. If I was to decide alone and if I had a majority, but it was not the case and it is not the case,” said the UDMR leader, according to Agerpres.

“There are oversized ministries, there are ministries who have a staff deficit, but the agents hurt your head. Consumer protection in Bucharest, there are as many people as in all counties in one place. So I cannot explain rationally and I have given only one example, but there are many other examples,” said Kelemen Hunor.

“So I think that the central administration is mandatory. We have to reduce where there are such peaks, so to speak.

Personnel discounts can bring economies of billions of lei

“Today (Tuesday) we discussed that point in package 2, about the local administration and the reform in the local administration, on the one hand, on the other hand, the personal discounts. So what remains and was blocked, it remains blocked for another 10 days, 2 weeks, because everyone wants to reach a solution. Much, because we are in a deadlock from which I am convinced and we will find that solution that can be agreed by everyone (…) Umdr at Digi 24.

He showed that there is a problem about managing information at the level of local authorities.

“The reports from the prefectures do not have a standardization and that is why the data were different, what the Ministry of Development has and what it received from the prefectures. (…) This is a problem and I said that if we do not solve it, it is difficult to work. Big municipalities, county residences, things are functional, that you cannot abandon any community, you cannot say that we reduce the number of staff and then you remain with 4-5-6 people.

Kelemen Hunor also spoke about the budget impact of these measures.

“The world asks us as much as we will save. So if we go with 10%, this means at national level 13,000 positions actually occupied at the local administration, it means 1.4-1.5 billion lei per year. If we add the central administration to this amount, probably the amount will be doubled, but I said that we must do the central administration, and to the local administration,”
