The Kremlin says the US has rejected one of its proposals for resolving the Middle East war

The Kremlin spokesman said on Wednesday that the United States has rejected a proposal for Russia to take over Iran's entire stockpile of enriched uranium as a measure to help resolve the Middle East conflict, Reuters reports.
Russia first proposed last June to take control of Iran's uranium stockpile, but no action was taken. According to media reports, Moscow presented the proposal again this week.
“Russia was ready to accept Iran's enriched uranium on its territory,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told India Today TV channel, according to Russian state agency RIA.
“This would be a good decision. But, unfortunately, the American side rejected this proposal,” Peskov added.
US media cited sources as saying US President Donald Trump's administration rejected the proposal. For its part, Iran has said that any decision will depend on its ability to reach an agreement with the US, including on its nuclear program.
The Trump administration has cited Iran's stockpile of enriched uranium — and the possibility that Tehran could obtain a nuclear weapon — as reasons for its attacks on Iran.
Russia's deputy foreign minister suggested last year that Russia was willing to take the stockpile from Iran and turn it into fuel for its civilian nuclear reactors as a measure to facilitate negotiations.
