“KrasKom” introduces round-the-clock quality control of water taken from the Yenisei in terms of “color” and “turbidity”
Over the past 24 hours, the water level in the Yenisei has risen sharply by 20 cm and is 224 cm in the area of the water-measuring station of the Otdykha Island water intake (the critical level is 390 cm).
Taking into account the hydrological situation on the Yenisei, the water quality control laboratory of the Gremyachiy Log water intake of the KrasCom company switched to round-the-clock operation.
“In general, the situation with the water level in the Yenisei within Krasnoyarsk was stable throughout the winter and the first half of spring,” says Oleg Goncherov, general director of KrasKom. — Until mid-May, laboratory technicians at the Gremyachiy Log water intake will take river water samples for turbidity not twice a day, as usual, but, as required during a flood, hourly. This is necessary for prompt adjustment of the operation of the filtration stations. In general, the enterprise has taken all necessary measures to ensure that drinking water always remains safe.”
To date, the results of analyzes confirm that Krasnoyarsk tap drinking water fully complies with sanitary and hygienic requirements in terms of turbidity, color and other quality indicators. According to the results of a laboratory study today, April 15, the turbidity of the Yenisei river water in the area of the river-bed water intake “Gremyachiy Log” is 2.09 FU (formazin turbidity units) with the standard being 34.
Let us recall that at the other six water intakes of Krasnoyarsk, located on the Yenisei islands, infiltration wells lift under-channel water from a depth of 20–25 meters, the quality of which is not affected by the flood.
“KrasCom” carries out quality control of drinking water in accordance with the “Program of industrial control of the quality and safety of drinking water in centralized water supply systems of Krasnoyarsk”, agreed upon by the Rospotrebnadzor department for the Krasnoyarsk Territory.
