Aurika Rotaru married banker Vladimir Pigach in 1987. In the same year, a daughter, Anastasia, was born into the family. Pigach suddenly died in 2005 from a stroke.
“We looked [французский триллер 2005 года режиссера Криса Наона] “Empire of Wolves”, I remember for the rest of my life. After finishing the movie, he went to the bathroom, as usual before bed. And I just lay down on the sofa and dozed off a little. I'm waiting for him to come out. I woke up because such a cold went through my soul…” – Aurika Rotaru shared her memories in 2021.
According to her, she went to the bathroom and started knocking on the door, but her husband did not respond.
“I couldn’t open the door, I called the security guard from below… While we broke the door, while we called an ambulance, it arrived, but there was already a massive stroke. Unfortunately, they couldn’t do anything…” the singer said then.
She added that her husband had “some problems with partners” and “he was nervous.”
“But he never shared, he digested everything within himself. Everything negative… He never talked about it. He carried it all inside himself,” Rotaru concluded.
At that time, the singer was almost 47 years old. After her husband's death, she never remarried.
Why doesn't she want to get married anymore?
“This topic is not for me, I know for sure, and I don’t even think about it,” Rotaru said in April 2026.
According to the singer, she is now busy with her family and career.
“I have a family, I have something to do, I have a profession, songs, viewers. I’m just thinking about it,” the artist added.
Did someone jinx it?
Five years ago, in an interview with Ukrainian presenter Alina Dorotyuk, Aurika Rotaru drew attention – all her sisters, like her, became widows early. The singer, thinking for a moment, suggested that perhaps someone had jinxed them.
“As they say in Ukrainian, it’s like ‘porobleno’. We are four sisters – and we were all left without husbands,” Rotaru said.
How Aurika Rotaru lives now
“I can stand it myself, even when it's hard. My husband and I worked and foresaw this. We have some real estate that we rent out. That’s why there is such material support,” Aurika Rotaru said in 2021.
According to the singer, she herself lives outside the city, where she moved from Kyiv almost 15 years ago.
“I have a greenhouse where I grow cucumbers and tomatoes. I get up at 6.00. I really like it. I have a huge garden. There are 50 trees,” she said.
