In a critical position, Iran is making the US choose between two options. “The world sees the massacre in Lebanon”

The United States “must choose between a ceasefire or the continuation of the war through Israel”, the head of Iranian diplomacy, Abbas Araqchi, said on Wednesday, according to which Washington “cannot have both”, informs the Spanish news agency EFE.

“The terms of the ceasefire between Iran and the United States are clear,” the Iranian foreign minister stressed, after Israel's series of bombings in Lebanon, which have so far killed 254 and wounded 1,164.

“The world is seeing the massacre in Lebanon. The ball is in the US court and the world is waiting to see if it will honor its commitments,” insisted Abbas Araqchi, according to Agerpres.

Iran and the US agreed overnight on Tuesday to a two-week truce during which they will negotiate an end to the war that began on February 28.

Araqchi referred to the agreement announced by Pakistan's Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, which called for “a ceasefire everywhere, including in Lebanon and other places”.

However, US President Donald Trump later stated that Israel's attacks against Hezbollah in Lebanon were a separate “clash” from Israel's war against Iran and were therefore not part of the temporary truce with Tehran.

Other countries, including Egypt and Qatar, two of the states that collaborated in efforts to reach the two-week truce, also condemned the “brutal attacks” launched by Israel against Lebanon on Wednesday and called for “immediate” intervention by the international community.
