“I think we also have some advertising displays, but Mr. Băluţă is the champion,” said Tuesday evening the USR candidate for the position of general mayor of the Capital, Cătălin Drula, about the counter-candidate proposed by the PSD in the partial elections for Bucharest.

“The networks behind you seem to have resources, I understand that he was asked today about the campaign budget and, I admit, he is a skilled politician, he gave 70 answers, but not a real one. It can be seen that there is a lot of money behind, there, but what is not much on your board, if you look, you really need a magnifying glass, or more recently it is even a sport, it has made more people with the zoom on the phone, is to look for the PSD logo. She it exists, but it's like in one of those games, it has to be found carefully”, said Cătălin Drula, to Euronews Romania.

Drula pointed out that Daniel Băluţă is a “PSD-ist sadea”, being the president of PSD Bucharest, and “the type of administration he did in Sector 4 is a PSD-ist”, according to News.ro.

In this context, the USR candidate recalled that the press indicated “dark links” between the administration in Sector 4 and the underworld clans.

Drula attacked Daniel Băluţă for the fact that he undertook the renovation of the passage from Unirii, where a foreign tourist died, following a mistake in the design of the passage, but also for the fact that he created a “singing fountain” that cost 30 million lei.

“The Danger to Our City”

Shortly before the statements from Euronews Romania, Drula published a message on his Facebook page in which he wrote that “I stumbled upon a panel of Daniel Băluță blocking the sidewalk. I want to do an exercise together: look for the PSD logo. And write in the comments where you identify it.”

“I say that he cannot hide his past now, as he does with the logo. So let's remember who Mr. Băluță is, as the media has extensively documented,” added the USR representative.

What else Drula wrote:

  • In 2015, after the tragedy at Colectiv, Daniel Băluță took over the Town Hall of Sector 4 from Piedone. He immediately promoted trusted people of the Clan of the Sportsmen and Marian Goleac to the town hall. As a coincidence, the “sportsmen” have been dealing with authorizations and receptions in the entire southern area of the sector since the first mandate. Goleac was head of ADP. With Băluță in the mayor's office, he received increased powers. Băluță's right-hand man was involved in several criminal cases. And his boy, who has become head of the Local Police, appears in the pool with the thugs.
  • This is the danger for our city: to fall back into the hands of clans and networks.
  • There is a risk that we will have another public robbery like before 2020. Because this is where the principle «he stole, but he did it». Parking lots made for 128,000 euros a place, singing fountains for 6 million, decorative kitsch for other millions and millions of euros, all from the money of the people of Bucharest. This is where the money goes that should be in the Capital, from which we should finance big projects.

Reply from Grindeanu

Also on Tuesday evening, Sorin Grindeanu, the interim leader of the social democrats, claimed that Daniel Băluță, the mayor of Sector 4, “leaves with the first chance” in the race to win Bucharest City Hall.

“It is very difficult for me to say percentage, but at this moment I believe that Daniel Băluţă, and I say this strongly, leaves with the first chance, because he has achievements behind him. He has done very good things in Sector 4, he is a man whom I say Bucharest needs, because he talks about the administration, he does not want to do politics”, stated Grindeanu.

The PSD leader continued with a direct attack on Drula, precisely on the subject of the PSD “logo”.

“I saw something else, that some people are concerned about the size these days (…) the size of the PSD logo. You know that you have nothing to show, because you have nothing to show, these things concern you. Daniel Băluţă has done a lot of things for Sector 4 and at this moment he is extremely ready to do a lot of things for all of Bucharest”, added the PSD president.

“Being a weak candidate, Mr. Drula needs the propte. I also said this matter yesterday. We all knew that he is a weak candidate, who has nothing to show and who is running an election campaign full of circus, scandal. I have seen him several times today,” claimed Grindeanu.
