In Krasnoyarsk, a court sentenced two young residents of Novosibirsk for fraud. This was reported by the press service of the regional prosecutor's office.
In May 2025, a stranger in a messenger asked a 17-year-old Novosibirsk resident to go to addresses, give a code word, take money from people and give it to another person. The guy agreed. The second man was asked to accept cash from the minor, exchange it for cryptocurrency and send it to the organizers in a crypto wallet. For their services, both received from 1 to 3% of the stolen goods.
In June last year in Krasnoyarsk, a pensioner, a former employee of the plant, received a call allegedly from the director of the enterprise. He reported on an internal check of all production veterans and warned that law enforcement officers would soon contact her. The fraudster, introducing himself as an employee of the authorities, explained that money was being transferred abroad on behalf of the woman and allegedly switched it to the financial director of the bank, who asked to help the investigation and temporarily transfer the money to the courier.
“The pensioner got scared, put 750 thousand rubles in an envelope and gave it to the guy who arrived, who gave the code word. The money goes to the second Novosibirsk resident, and from there into cryptocurrency. In a similar way, the men stole 800 thousand rubles from another resident of Krasnoyarsk,” the supervisory agency said.
In court, the scammers fully admitted their guilt and reimbursed part of the stolen amount – 15 thousand rubles.
In Krasnoyarsk, the court found the Novosibirsk residents guilty of fraud (Part 4 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) and sentenced them to 1 year 8 months and 2 years 8 months in a general regime colony.
