The Russian Football Federation announces that it has offered to host matches from the 2032 European Championship in partnership with Turkey, if the Italians do not give guarantees to UEFA that they can build the stadiums necessary to host the competition. “It's no joke, life goes on! There's still time, things will change,” said President Alexander Dyukov.

“Russia is ready to host EURO 2032 instead of Italy”, is the provocative announcement from the president of the Moscow federation, Alexander Dyukov, published by the Sport.ru agency.

Asked by local journalists what could happen if “Italy loses the right to host the tournament because of the stadium problem”, Dyukov answered without hesitation, offering Moscow's full support.

“UEFA has only approved one of the 10 proposed venues, so there is the possibility that the entire tournament could be awarded to Turkey, which will host the competition together with Italy”explains Alexander Dyukov.

It's not a joke, but it's a good one: who applied! »

Russia and Turkey have declared their interest in 2028 or 2032

That it is not a joke at all is confirmed by the news published on the website of the Nyon forum: “UEFA confirmed today that it has received expressions of interest to host the 2028 and 2032 editions of the UEFA European Championship from four potential bidders, after the March 23 deadline.

A joint declaration of interest has been submitted by the football associations of England, Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland, Scotland and Wales for UEFA EURO 2028.

Russia and Turkey have declared their interest in hosting either the 2028 or 2032 edition of UEFA's flagship national team competition, while Italy has announced its intention to bid for UEFA EURO 2032.

The appointment of the UEFA EURO 2028 and UEFA EURO 2032 host(s) will take place in September 2023.”

The Italians write that it is unlikely, if not impossible, that UEFA will decide on the fly to change the countries that will host Euro 2032. From 2022, following the invasion of Ukraine, UEFA suspended Russia from all competitions “until further notice”, a warning that so far, although Moscow does not stop its attacks on Kiev, has not yet arrived.
