Nicușor Dan assures that Romania has resources for fuel supply. “We will have high price pressure, at least for two to three months”

“In yesterday's discussion in Cotroceni, we discussed procurement, the possibility that at some point there may be a lack of fuel on the market. We are not there. Romania has part of domestic production and part of refining on its territory, so the chains are shorter”, explained the head of state.

He stated that there are crisis scenarios similar to those for gas or electricity, but at the moment there is no question of an emergency.

On the pricing side, there are many factors that we cannot currently control. For example, some transit of the Strait of Hormuz has begun. We will see in the coming days how necessary it will be supplied. If things continue in this direction, we will have a lot of pressure on the price, at least for the next two to three months.”warned Nicușor Dan.

The President emphasized that the Romanian budget can intervene to mitigate the effects, but the global and geopolitical effects will influence the evolution of the market: “There are many factors and we will see by seeing and doing.”

Romania and the Strait of Hormuz

Regarding Romania's involvement in the situation in the Strait of Hormuz, Nicușor Dan explained that a coalition dedicated to this problem was formed.

“Romania will contribute resources and assess what equipment and military personnel are needed, depending on the evolution of the situation“, the president said.
