The plane crash occurred on Friday around 10:30 local time (approx. 15:30 Polish time) in the city of Capao da Canoa in the southern state of Rio Grande do Sul in Brazil. Shortly after take-off, the Piper PA-46 Malibu passenger plane flew into an apartment building on Avenida Valdomiro Cândido dos Reis – describes the website aeroin.net.
Four people died in the tragic accident: businessman Luis Ortolani and his wife Deborah, as well as two pilots: Nelio Pessanha and Renan Saes.

A video showing the moment of the disaster circulated on social media. The video recorded by a surveillance camera shows the machine hitting a residential building and turning into a ball of fire.
Another video published by “Jornal O Sul” shows a burning building and smoke above the crash site.

According to local media, the building that the plane hit housed a restaurant. So far, there is no information about any other victims or injured.
Data from the FlightRadar24 website say that the plane had earlier flown to the city from Criciuma, Santa Carolina. The exact circumstances of the incident will be investigated by the services. Brazilian services point out that the plane most likely lost thrust. This is indicated by the retracted landing gear and the upturned nose of the machine at the moment of impact.
The Governor of Rio Grande do Sul, Eduardo Leite, expressed his condolences to the families and loved ones of the victims. “The disaster area has already been evacuated and is being secured by the military fire brigade and the gendarmerie. I have ordered the full involvement of rescue teams,” the statement reads.
