In Norilsk, an employee of a marketplace pick-up point will appear in court for mass theft of expensive orders.

The press service of the regional prosecutor's office said that at the beginning of December 2024, a 42-year-old woman got a job at one of the marketplace order pick-up points in Norilsk. Already during her first shifts, she came up with a plan on how to turn someone else’s goods into personal income. At that time, she had not yet signed an employment contract, but had already received full access to the product and accounting system. She was entrusted with receiving parcels from couriers, putting them on balance and issuing orders.

According to the accused, the reason for the thefts was the breakdown of her phone and the lack of money to buy a new one. During one of the deliveries, she took a box with a smartphone out of a bag, did not scan it, and simply put it in her bag. For the system, the goods “remained on the way”, but for the buyer they were lost. The client’s money was automatically returned, and the employee received her first “bonus.”

“Inspired by “success,” the operator began to systematically “forget” to scan expensive orders: smartphones, laptops, game consoles, gold jewelry, power tools and household appliances. She explained to clients that the goods did not arrive or were lost, and offered to issue a refusal. The money was returned to the buyers, and the things ended up at her home. The woman kept part of the stolen goods for herself, and sold the rest through friends who were not privy to the details of the origin of the goods. She exchanged some for products, sold some through advertisements,” the supervisory agency clarified.

In addition, she placed expensive orders for a salesperson she knew from a nearby store, who often helped her out with money before her payday, canceled them in the system, and gave the goods to him as “gifts.” At the same time, she kept silent about where she gets them from.

The total amount of damage amounted to 1.4 million rubles. When thefts became widespread, the marketplace security service recorded anomalies on a specific item. An inventory began, which quickly led to a specific user in the system.

The woman was charged with misappropriation of entrusted property on an especially large scale (Part 4 of Article 160 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). The criminal case will be considered by the Norilsk City Court.
