A bus and a tram belonging to the Bucharest Transport Company (STB) collided on Friday evening in Pasajul Victoriei in the Capital. Several people were injured and five were transported to the hospital, according to the Traffic Brigade of the Capital Police.
- UPDATE: STB announces that, from 8:50 p.m., the circulation of means of transport through the Victoria Passage resumed.
“On October 17 this year, around 5:45 p.m., the Road Brigade was alerted by calling 112 regarding the fact that a traffic accident occurred in Pasajul Victoriei, in which two STB vehicles were involved,” the institution said.
“According to the preliminary information, the driver of a tram traveling in Pasajul Victoriei, towards Doctor Felix str., collided with a bus traveling in the same direction”, stated the Road Brigade.
Following the impact, several people received medical attention on the spot, five of them being transported to the hospital, namely one victim from the tram and four victims from the bus.
The driver and the driver were tested with the breathalyzer, the indicated result was zero, the Road Brigade stated.
After the accident, traffic was restricted in Pasajul Victoriei, in the direction of Doctor Felix Street.
The Bucharest Transport Company reported that a tram of line 1 and a bus of line 182 were involved in the incident, the event taking place on the direction of travel towards Bd. Banu Manta, and detours were applied for the means of transport.
“STB treats this incident with the utmost seriousness and has urgently started an internal investigation. In parallel, the Road Brigade Police is conducting investigations to establish the exact causes and circumstances in which the road event occurred”, the company also transmitted.
Diverted traffic
The traffic of trams on line 1 and buses on line 182 was temporarily diverted on Friday evening due to a collision that took place in Pasajul Victoriei, and as a result of the impact several people needed medical attention, the Bucharest Transport Society (STB) announced on Friday, writes Agerpres.
“STB informs that today, October 17, at around 5:45 p.m., a collision occurred between a tram of line 1 and a bus of line 182, in Pasajul Victoriei, in the direction of travel towards Bd. Banu Manta. According to preliminary information, the tram traveling through the passage towards Str. Dr. Felix collided with the bus in front of it. As a result of the impact, several people were injured needed medical attention on the spot, and four of them were transported to the hospital for further investigations”, informs STB.
