Krasnoyarsk scientists received a record number of RSF grants

March 26 10:31

Krasnoyarsk scientists presented projects that received grants from the Russian Science Foundation (RSF) to the regional governor Mikhail Kotyukov. The meeting took place at the National Center “Russia” on the Yenisei.

The press service of the regional government said that this year the Krasnoyarsk Territory took part in the RSF competition for the first time in the field of applied research, becoming the absolute leader in the number of projects supported by the fund. Mikhail Kotyukov noted that teams of scientists, enterprises and universities that are truly involved in scientific work today need to be provided with comprehensive support.

Let us recall that at the beginning of last year, following a meeting between the regional governor and the general director of the Russian Science Foundation, Vladimir Bespalov, they decided to double federal funding for scientific research in the region. More than 200 million rubles will be allocated annually for scientific projects.

“The scientific projects supported by the foundation relate to issues of technological leadership, which the president places special emphasis on. I believe that for the region, the first experience of working under the new RSF program is an excellent opportunity to ensure a different technological structure of the region’s economy, more knowledge-intensive, with greater added value and based on Russian ideas and technologies. An important condition for success is that we have built a dialogue between science, vocational education and production,” noted the head of the region.

Representatives of the industrial sector, including leading enterprises in the region, including JSC NPP Radiosvyaz and JSC Reshetnev, who acted as customers for research work, noted the importance of joint activities. Cooperation with scientific teams allows them to more actively explore new markets and create the groundwork for further development.

Mikhail Kotyukov also drew attention to another important aspect of research work: the involvement of students in scientific activities. This will be a great incentive for talented youth. In his opinion, the younger generation of Krasnoyarsk residents should see real opportunities to realize their ideas in their native land, and not beyond its borders.

Let us remind you that this year the Krasnoyarsk Territory became the leader in the number of applications for regional competitions of the Russian Science Foundation and the number of approved projects. The region took first place in support in the applied research competition. This selection is unique in that it unites the efforts of the Russian Science Foundation, the region and enterprises that are ready to co-finance research and implement developments in their production. In this competition, applications from the Krasnoyarsk Territory accounted for almost half of all submissions. Scientists will work in areas that meet national priorities: food security, the fight against cancer, ecology, IT, communications and development of the space industry.

In total, based on the results of three grant competitions of the Russian Science Foundation, 68 projects from the Krasnoyarsk Territory will receive support.
