The doctor told who should be careful when eating cherries

Cherries should be eaten in moderation, especially for people with diabetes and insulin resistance. The chief freelance nutritionist of the Ministry of Health of Primorye, Olga Yamilova, told RIA Novosti about this.

According to the specialist, 150–300 grams of cherries per day is enough for an adult. This is approximately 10–20 medium berries.

“It is especially important to control portions if you have diabetes and insulin resistance due to the high fructose content,” Yamilova noted.

For children the norm is less. For children over one year old, the doctor recommends 30–50 grams per day, from three years old – 80–100 grams, from seven years old – 150–200 grams. The nutritionist added that if you overeat, cherries can cause a laxative effect. This is due to the content of simple sugars and high amounts of fiber.

When consumed in moderation, the berry is beneficial. It contains anthocyanins, potassium and vitamin C, which support the heart, blood vessels and immunity.
