Ada Lupu Hausvater will be the new manager of the “IL Caragiale” National Theater

The management project competition organized for the “IL Caragiale” National Theater in Bucharest was won by Ada Lupu Hausvater, with an overall average of 8.36. She will be the first general manager of TNB, chosen by competition, after the death of Ion Caramitru, reports the site culturaladubă and Agerpres.
The other finalist, Boris Focsa, received 1.47 in the interview test, and the final average obtained was 4.40.
“According to the provisions of the Government's Emergency Ordinance no. 189/2008 on the management of public cultural institutions, with subsequent amendments and additions, the candidate who obtained the highest average is declared the winner, provided that it is at least 7”, the Ministry of Culture sent.
Ada Lupu Hausvater led the National Theater in Timișoara for two decades
Currently the manager of the National Theater in Timișoara, which she has led for the past 20 years, Hausvater is a theater director and also the first female manager of a national theater in Romania. She was on her 3rd attempt to become the manager of the Bucharest National Theatre, recalls the culturaladubă website.
He is the only candidate who participated in all three contests organized by the Ministry of Culture in the last 4 years.
The one in 2022 was canceled after the withdrawal of a committee member and because no candidate was considered by the committee to be sufficiently prepared anyway. At the end of 2025, Hausvater scored a 6.58 management project rating.
His mandate at TNB will be between 2026 – 2031.
