Strike prepared by Milan! The “Rossoneri”, close to the transfer of a star from Bayern Munich

AC Milan are very close to pulling off one of the most spectacular strikes of the summer. The Italians are negotiating intensively with Leon Goretzka, the midfielder who will leave Bayern Munich free of contract.
According to ESPN, the Milanese are extremely close to an agreement on the personal terms of the contract. Goretzka would thus end his adventure that began in 2018 at Bayern, a club for which he collected no less than 309 matches, 51 goals and 52 decisive assists.
Milan want an experienced player for the new project
According to the quoted source, the German midfielder, who turned 31 in February, is seen as one of the leaders on whom Milan want to build the new project.
The press in Italy notes that the “Rossoneri” are looking for players with experience and personality, and Goretzka has been on the club's list for a long time. Milan's squad already includes big names like Luka Modric and Adrien Rabiot, and management believes the German would fit in perfectly.
Leon Goretzka would not be the first experienced midfielder brought in by AC Milan in recent times. The Rossoneri have also signed Luka Modric, 40, who arrived at the San Siro in the summer of 2025 on a free contract after leaving Real Madrid. The Croatian initially signed for one season, but solid performances convinced Milan officials to extend his deal until 2027, a decision made in April 2026.
Huge competition for Goretzka's signature
The transfer is not at all simple for Milan. Napoli, Juventus, Arsenal, Olympique Marseille or Bayer Leverkusen were also interested in Goretzka's signature. However, the Milanese are now favorites to complete the move.
An important aspect for the transfer remains UEFA Champions League qualification. At the moment, Milan is 3rd in Serie A and is close to the goal.
In the current season, Leon Goretzka ticked off 45 official matches for Bayern Munich, scoring 5 goals and 4 assists. With the German national team, the midfielder has 69 caps and 15 goals.
According to the specialist website Transfermarkt, Goretzka is currently valued at 15 million euros.
