March 24 15:52

Norilsk Nickel became one of the industrial partners of the project to create a cluster of advanced processing of non-ferrous, rare and rare earth metals in the Krasnoyarsk Territory. A corresponding agreement was signed between the company and the Development Fund of the INTC “Mendeleev Valley”.

A distributed research and production complex of federal significance will be created in the Angara-Yenisei macroregion on behalf of Russian President Vladimir Putin. It will become a technological and industrial base for production that meets the needs of sectors of the 21st century economy. Norilsk Nickel will help develop the research and production infrastructure of the cluster, creating conditions for the launch and implementation of mutually beneficial investment projects.

Such cooperation will help in the implementation of the Strategy for Scientific and Technological Development of Russia and national projects to ensure technological leadership. Among the main areas of joint activity are additive technologies and artificial intelligence technologies, as well as mining technology.

Norilsk Nickel plans to work on creating a research and experimental data processing center for tasks related to the development of artificial intelligence and the development of digital financial assets, the development of a 3D printing concept, as well as a project for the production and overhaul of underground mining equipment.

Another important part of the cooperation is research work, the development of scientific and scientific-technical cooperation, training and attraction of personnel for innovative activities, as well as the commercialization of developed projects.

“For us, cooperation with the cluster is, first of all, a focus on partnership with science and the development of innovation. Norilsk Nickel is moving away from the image of an exclusively raw materials company. Already today, modern technologies are improving the parameters of our production and increasing the economic result. I am confident that joint work will raise the efficiency of using new technologies to a higher level,” Norilsk Nickel President Vladimir Potanin commented on the agreement.

In turn, Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Sergei Shoigu noted that the formation of industrial cooperation around the cluster project in the Angara-Yenisei macroregion is an important step in the development of a new industrial model of the country.

“We are talking about creating a system that combines the resource potential of Siberia, scientific developments and production competencies of leading companies. The participation of such industry leaders provides the project with the necessary industrial scale and technological expertise,” commented Sergei Shoigu.

Let us recall that the Angara-Yenisei cluster of deep processing of non-ferrous, rare and rare earth metals involves the formation of a scientific, technological and industrial ecosystem, attracting investments of about 700 billion rubles and creating more than 11 thousand jobs. The cluster will unite research centers, engineering teams and industrial enterprises working on the development and production of materials and components for modern industry.
