A new wave of fines for Romania TV

The National Audiovisual Council decided to sanction Romania TV with three fines and a summons. In total, the station was fined 75,000 lei (15,000 euros) and a summons for disinformation, lack of balance, xenophobia and instigation in shows from December, writes Pagina de Media.

In the meetings on Tuesday and Wednesday, the CNA analyzed the complaints for December broadcasts for Romania TV and decided to fine the news television with 60,000 lei, respectively 10,000 lei and 5,000 lei, plus a summons.

The summons was given for a December 8 prank, in which the USR-ists were called “rats”. “Next: Shattered at the vote, the USR rats are looking for new hideouts”, captioned the station in the show “Romania in 60 minutes”.

The station was fined 60,000 lei for the High Point and the Black Box from December, for misinformation and lack of balance in reports about Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan. Moreover, during one of the shows, an investigation was resumed (as a retrospective) that targeted Bolojan and that had been sanctioned by the CNA in April of last year, with 30,000 lei, according to the discussions during the meeting, writes Pagina de Media.
