The Shah field is one of the world's largest deposits of the so-called sour gas, characterized by a high content of hydrogen sulphide and carbon dioxide. It is estimated that gas reserves in this field amount to approximately 480 billion cubic meters. Additionally, light crude oil is produced there.
Iran also attacked the United Arab Emirates' key oil port of Fujairah and Dubai airport.
The fire broke out after a drone attack on a strategically important port and industrial zone in Fujairah, one of the largest oil storage facilities in the region, which is located across the Strait of Hormuz. Oil loading at the port was suspended for some time to assess the losses.
